Karratha to Onslow to the best place on the west coast...

Mark and I, having been given the task of forging ahead down the west coast, clearing the way for the followers, have taken our job quite seriously.

We travelled a quite long and boring road to Onslow, only because we thought we should check it out for the others, of course. We even took a side road because the map book looked like it had free camping near a nondescript bridge on the Cane River. However, we found ourselves in the middle of nowhere at a gate that warned of asbestos contamination - we kind of guessed this probably wasn't the place the map meant, so retreated.

Off to Onslow we went and checked the town out, with it's growing mining of salt and gas  - we felt for the town as it is another being taken over by mining. Lots of apartmentS just starting to be built. I know it saves some of these towns but I think they also lose some of their cuteness too. An interesting note was accommodation at the new flash looking airport was going FROM $290 per night - in a donger!

We ended up out near Old Onslow on the Ashburton River, by ourselves, in not quite the camping area, but it must've been close to legal!
